Updates on Home for a Hero House and Recent Media Coverage

(vacant lot at 336 Donald Place in Wealthy Heights)

Homes of Hope has been working on finalizing the plans for our Home for a Hero project over the past few months and it's beginning to develop into exactly what we had envisioned. A recent article was published on Rapid Growth briefly discussing the project. We are confident that this project has the potential to reach out to people and inspire them to help change lives, even if it's something as simple as spreading the word.

The amount of time and energy that is being partially or fully donated to this cause, while we are still in the early developmental phase, continuously inspires us to move forward. It's definitely a big feat to try and construct a home from scratch in six days. ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is one of the most prevalent influences for Home for a Hero, given their success in building homes within the six day time frame. Some of the challenges we face are making the home LEED and Zero- Step certified, while not losing the historical aspect of the neighborhood. We would also like to not exceed the time frame of six days, seeing as how that is one of the ideas that the project was founded on. Ware excited to face these challenges head on. If all goes well, construction will begin towards the end of June 2014. We will let you know when further developments are established in regards to specific dates.

The article previously mentioned did a wonderful job informing the public of exactly what Home for a Hero is about and what we, at Homes of Hope, wish to accomplish. We are passionate about we do and the more that we can involve the community, the more rewarding our efforts will be. June may seem far off, but it will be here before we know it. So feel free to go check out the article and spread the word. We are working on constructing a website for Home for a Hero and on the design of this blog. Hopefully both will be done soon but, in the mean time, stay informed on all of Homes of Hope's projects by checking out our websites and contact information below.
